S.t.R.E.T.C.H.
Just what does S.t.R.E.T.C.H. class offer?
In-Class
While there is a lot to learn, discover, and explore in our body and mind, it is best to keep it simple and experience your own practice of S.t.R.E.T.C.H. your body and quieting your mind. We will include breath work, postures and meditation with a focus on renewing the mind and freely breathing. We blend in flexibility, balance, physical endurance, muscle toning to awaken the body. Soft music is played 50-85% of the time.
While inviting mindful awareness through body and breath we develop more compassion, patience, forgiveness for ourself, God and others. One can not gain the benefits from reading or watching people stretch, balance, meditate, or relax. So, regardless of your knowledge, skill, and experience, S.T.R.E.T.C.H. will be a great gentle class with teacher demonstrations as well as hands-on alignments. And always an encouragement to listen to your body and modify!!!
Once you experience this class, I hope you will want to come back again and again!

What does S.t.R.E.T.C.H. mean?
S.
Stop and Sit Still
In the beginning and end of each class you will learn how to consciously stop “racing thoughts”, relax an active body, and become “in” the moment (meditation)..resting both body and mind.
t.
Target
Every moment presents a choice to choose. As we are physically still and mentally aware, ask yourself and God, what is our targeted goal/intention/declaration? This could be a physical need (“I will”…loosen muscles, increase joint mobility, open airways for better breathing, have healthier eating lifestyle, have rejuvenating sleep, a new hobby/adventure, etc) or a mental need (“I am”…rest, peace, quiet, surrendering, learning to love myself, thankful, etc).
R.
Respire
In every class we remind you of the knowledge and wisdom of the mechanics of breathing (nostril/mouth breathing, diaphragm, lungs, intercostal muscles, rib cage, etc). Then, directing our mind and body to focus on the breathing techniques ( 4-4 breath, alternate nostril breathing, mouth vs. nostril breathing, etc), we transport oxygen to our brains allowing us for a clearer and calmer mind.
E.
Elongate
Each posture is created to elongate and strengthen your muscles, fascia, tendons, and ligaments. The process to elongate presents you the choice either to statically hold or dynamically move into your stretch. All stretching promotes muscle toning and strengthening, improves balance and flexibility, promotes blood/oxygen/fluid circulation, improves posture and range of motion, relieves tightnesses and pains, and reduces injury. We encourage modifications with blocks, blankets, bolsters, a wall, or a strap that are appropriate for your body.
T.
Time
There are four “times” to consider with your practice of S.T.R.E.T.C.H….how many times will I practice in a week (1-6 days a week…making sure to always take at least one day for complete rest), timing of your practice (morning vs. mid-day vs. evening), length of time for each practice (15 minutes, 30 minutes, 90 minutes), and the amount of time each posture is statically held or dynamically moved.
C.
Circulation
Keep in mind while stretching, the body has the ability to increase circulation (blood, lymphatic, synovial fluid, intra/extracellular, etc) to remove toxins and rebuild with healthy tissue. Also, hydrating with water is essential for the circulation of nutrients in the body, maintenance of your “normal” body’s temperature, lubricating and cushioning joints, protecting your spinal cord and other sensitive tissues and organs, and helps get rid of wastes through urination, perspiration, and bowel movements.
H.
Honor
To honor oneself and if you believe in a higher being (God), we align our mind and body by being in the present moment, having a thankful heart, maintaining positive ‘self talk’, and faith, knowing I create my journeys to enjoy my life, my family, and friends, and my experiences!
